If you're going through all the work of putting a cam in, why not have it make better power throughout the power band instead of just making a cool sound?

Something along the lines of a high 22x/ low 23x with right around .600"-.610" of lift would make great power, coupled with milled heads imo.

Email gpxtuning@gmail.com and tell him I referred you along with your list of mods and he'll spec you a cam. Same price as anywhere else and takes the guess work out for you. If you're on IG look up @gptuning and listen for yourself.

I will tell you that your "lopiness" will be limited without a stall and headers. And just doing a cam for sound is retarded. People WILL try to run you from time to time and if you don't see my point now, you will after you continue to lose.

Typically, it's $425 for cam shipped to you and about $1100 for cam and BTR cam kit shipped. I would also suggest doing the Melling oil pump while you're there $120 PN 10295, and you can either choose a GM timing chain or the Katech C5R chain for $100 more. Plan to do cam, oil pump, chain, PR's, springs, and trunion upgrade which is all included in the kit.

Like Jared said, If you just want a cam, and are not building a race engine...XR265/269 IMO

Enjoy the sound and noticeable power bump, can use LS6 (yellow/blue) valve springs. Hell, you could even reuse stock push rods if you really wanted to.

How many miles are on that setup? If its fairly low mileage I wouldn't be opposed to using the stock cam gear and chain either.

Quite a bit of work for just some sound. Then you have to get a tune. So you're spending quite a bit of dough and time for just sound.
From someone who went a little too mild on a cam not long ago, make sure you make it worth it. About 4 months after I did mine I wished I went a little more aggressive.

I've always said, camming for the sound is about like buying a hooker just to tell people you did.
I'm porting the heads new lifters push rods and all I know what a cam does I want a good sounding one tho not something that idles at 300 I want like a 700 idle

my advice to you is to contact someone and have one spec'd. It's usually best, and typically costs the same. Tell them what you want in a cam, and your supporting mods. Justin at Futral was very helpful in many ways, Patrick Guerra spec'd my cam, and you can try Lil John motorsports. Or just go with an off the shelf cam that most are having really good results with.

I don't know what "a good sounding cam" means to you. Are you wanting big lope? So a high lift?

I run a .629/.629 lift on my car

and also Futral (I recommend them!), and Lil John Motor Sports

I run a Cam motion cam on EPS lobes via Patrick Guerra. I am very happy with it. Futral is doing big things with the G8s, so they will do my next cam.

ETA: I should have scrolled up, already posted that info...

GP Tuning is all I will ever use. He uses Cam Motion or Comp, your choice. You're welcome to search YouTube "LT1Z cam" and take a listen and read some GM forums about who's fast and running his cams.
