I started a similar thread on another site and got a bunch of responses from BB.

In short what they said was yes it will still be beneficial to tune your truck even with a 5 speed. They can do a lot motor-wise, along with making your shifts a bit easier/quicker.

I plan on getting one once I convince myself to buy the autocal tune. If I end up getting one before you I'll post up.

Also, bgray had a bb tune on his 5spd red rcsb he recently sold. Hopefully he chimes in again about it.

I bumped said thread earlier... anyways. Im just afraid it will be worthless and not woth my time. Im just scared to do it i guess mainly. Seems to be the going thing to do tho for sure. Hopefully someone who has had one will chime in

I'm thinking you'll only see worthwhile gains if you get a 91 octane tune.

While you're at it you may consider a re-gear. I don't know how big your tires are but that might help you out too.

I had justin tune my 4.8 5 speed red rcsb. Night and day difference. No more bottom end bog. Torque managment is still in the engine, so they will remove that completely, and tighten everything up. Throttle response is a big one too.

Yeah just saw that. I'm hoping bgray chimes in. I forget which thread I asked him about the tune on his red rcsb..

:word: planning on 91 anyway when I get tuned.

Im not no dang street racer so i could care less about how fast it goes i would love just to see some better mpgs. but in all honesty if i only buy 87 now and get a 200$ tune and start buying 91 i feel like it would just keep being an extra expense

Not true. As mentioned above, Throttle response from a DBW system can improve drive ability leaps and bounds. and Give massive butt dyno numbers

91-93 tune only cost at most 10 bucks more a tank.

I would regear, that will help out the most for mpgs, then get a tune to calibrate everything and help tune motor for optimal performance.

Hate to thread dig but it is relevant, bgray or chris... what octane tunes did you get? Im getting tuned in person in two weeks and I want to be able to get the most out of my tune while still being reasonable with fuel cost

Couple more bucks a tank but maybe 1-2 mpg better fuel eco so in the end you are getting the same amount of miles but 93 is so much better for your engine. IMO
