So what do you consider I do? Not get bolts

As stated, you need to look at the price points to see which way will give you the power you want. You can boost a 4.8 all day long @ 15lbs with a cam/stall, but in the end, it's still just a 4.8.

Or

You could buy a 6.0 complete for 1,000-1500, do some simple bolt ons and when youre used that power boost the 6.0.

You just need to decide how you want to make your power then go from there. Supercharger, NA, Turbo, etc.

Guy that was going to build my 6.0 before I sold it told me this...."The 6.0 is really alot better. I put in a 5.3 with headers, cam, rods, springs, heads, LT's and ory on a truck. I also dropped in a completly stock 6.0 on another. The trucks actually raced and the 6.0 blew it away" IMHO dropping all this money that you are wanting to in the 4.8 would be pointless. You can honestly probably find a block for what your spending on a few mods that you would do to the 4.8. It would be alot more practical to find the 6.0 and go ahead and put heads, cam, rods, springs and other things in that you would do to the 4.8. The parts for the 4.8 would be the same for the 6.0 as they are both ls based motors so why not just find you a starting platform 6.0 for around $200-$500 depending on what parts are already in it (I would much rather go with something completly bare so you can upgrade parts if you want to go fast) and add the parts to that instead the 4.8?

Exactly. You can do full bolt ons on a 4.8 and boost it and then full bolt ons on a 6.0 and the 6.0 will atleast hang with it. 6.0 is where its at if your wanting power. Ci= more power. You will get alot more out of a 6.0 than fully bolted 4.8. I went from a stock 4.8 to a bolted 5.3 and it was a enormous difference. It would be the same going from a bolted 4.8 to a stock 6.0. The difference could easily stand out. Then if you bolt a 6.0 it would be great. If you have a bolted 6.0 and want more then look into a turbo or supercharger. For a turbo, all you have to do is use stock manifolds or shorts like Jeff said and plumb it.

I currently have a Vararam intake installed and have the following parts waiting to be installed: TrueTrac, 4.11s, HD2 shift kit, servos, LTs. Looking for my Corsa Sport exhaust now and plan to get a 220 or 224 580-590 cam, springs and rods and 3000 stall. Once everything is installed I'll be getting a dyno tune. Should I get my heads ported and polished or just buy some already done? What else should I get?

Get the MIT, same gains as a full, more expensive system.

4.10s and a tru trac would be badass and would work well if you swapped motors down the road also. The gear swap alone will make it a different truck

4.10s and a tru track ^

Then 6L swap it before you put any money in the 4.8. Youll be much happier tuned 6L then that cammed 4.8

4.10s and a nice converter

Rons on both items

Tell him your on PT.net
I run a value track btw he sells them. They work the same and cheaper

And we put some power down on a couple around here and many guys on PT.

Tell him you want 4.11s and a value track with install kit. 8.5/8.6 10bolt. Hes a great guy,I run USA gear btw. I wanted OEM which he sells but triple the money.

for how much you would spend on a cam and stuff for your 4.8, you can basically score a 6.0

and if you stick with the 4.8, then front mount turbo or bust.

I decided no need to spend money on cam, and boost isnt in the funds for along time.
Just needs more go.
4.8 with CAI, LTs, efans, built trans and gears seems like itd be pretty fun for the street.
Truck will prolly never go to a track or anything anyways.
