Important!: 2009 Pontiac G8 GT build thread!

The best jobs are ported by hand, even if its smoothing cnc imperfections. Id say a significant gain can be made by a very good porter on ls3 heads if you have the supporting mods. So are you milling?

replace the chain. the oil pump is probably not necessary.

Important!: 2009 Pontiac G8 GT build thread!

a few truck guys isn't exactly ''many''. if you go to a much larger performance forum like ls1tech or corvetteforum, you will see basically nobody touches the pan unless they drop the pickup tube bolt into the pan. maybe it's just a truck vs. car thing....check ls1howto.com same process. i...

Important!: 2009 Pontiac G8 GT build thread!

think of it like when you get the green light to do anal with a woman. all you have to do is push the tube away slightly and gently reinsert it upon installing the new pump(a little oil on the o ring for lube helps) and be careful to not drop the pickup tube bolt into the pan. child's play.

I know what they are talking about. On all mentioned cam swaps, I removed/replaced the oil pumps without removing the pan.

are you milling the heads too still? i've never had to remove the pan on 4 cam swaps in c5/6's so i don't see why you would.

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

Avg cost is $30 per head. It is absolutely worth it. Ask pat g or btr how mich you need to get the most out of 93oct. Should lead you to around 8.7 dcr. You could just do a thinner gasket instead.

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

you should really consider milling the heads since you are removing them anyway. bigger cams decrease your DCR, which is partly to blame for the loss in low rpm torque that big cams have a reputation for. If you bring it back at least to original DCR, you should not notice a decrease in low...

whats the rest of the specs? what are you doing with the heads? how long will the cam take to ship? you ordered a pushrod length checker right?

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

    I should have said, if the combo runs out of hp before 6100rpm....then theres no big need for a 6600rpm stable valvetrain. Springs ive said like 8 times with an article link. Psi1511ml - - - - - - - - - -auto merged double post- - - - - - - - - - ....

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

Ls3 are hollow stem, a good upgrade to turn rpm, but those dual springs arent so it may be a waste, esp if the cam is weak. Cadillac lifters are not for you. They can have issues and really need an endurance cam

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

Who failed ls7's? I run new LS7's in my ls7. If they survive my engine they will comfortably survive yours. Morels are good, but i dont think you will notice a difference unless you have very high lift/aggressive ramp cam and go with larger lifter wheels. Your money would be better spent on...

Spinmonster Cam specs different for LS2 and LS3? - Corvette Forum Spinmonster general specs. 230/234 605/600 114+2 for ls3, 228/232 600/600 114+2 for ls2. Ballparking, 226/230, 600/600(closest eps endurance lobe), 113 or 112, +2 or 4 would likely work for you. But you really should verify your...

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

Milling should only cost $30x2, and its in your best interest 1. For virgin surface 2. To gain power 3. To gain mpg. It'll likely net 20rwtq alone. A theory i'm on board with is engine builds lose some low end torque when you increase cam overlap since that lowers your dynamic compression...

    Cam time-possible DoD failure

I'd disregard that table and pick something specific for your car.I would go with cammotion eps lobes.... Just figure your desired DCR and spec yourself. Is this a 6.0? Figure so since auto. I'd ballpark around 224/230-113+4. Do you want lope? If so id aim for +2-4deg overlap(112-113 lsa for...
