make sure you didnt suck a intake gasket. also check the valve lash on those cylinders that a valve lash isnt too tight causing the valve not the seal to the head.

Could it suck an intake gasket but not cause a vacuum leak? I sprayed the manifold down with carb cleaner looking for leaks and it never idled up. Good call on the lash though. I’ll look at that tonight

Got some parts in today. Super impressed with these Speed Engineering heads quality wise. For a $350 set of headers, they are super nice. Wayyy better than the set I ordered for my red truck years ago. Super thick flanges, thick o2 bung, the collector is a good gauge (instead of bending just looking at it like some) and even has the spike inside to even out the pulses. These are the 1 3/4” version

This is so damn exciting. I was super impressed with my headers too. They didn't feel flimsy at all when we were installing them. Pretty happy with that purchase.

Finally got a chance to really clean up the interior, pulled up the carpet to check the floor for rust at the sill plates and kick panels. Not a speck, thank god

Did have a little water in the insulation and carpet on the passenger side, but that’s from washing the truck. I desperately need to get new locks for my vent windows, they don’t seal worth a shit. I’ll have to set up the fan and dry this out tomorrow

Also scored a pretty sweet little vintage picnic-basket style Colman cooler at the swap meet this weekend. It even has the original tray. Gonna clean it up and use it for going to C10 club shows and stuff.

I'm probably gonna bug you for interior pics since mine has a seat and visors and half hung door panels lol. Project for a later time but I eventually want it to look nice in there.

Go for it lol. I’m actually shocked at how well this cleaned up. Need to get some more pics now that I’ve scrubbed the carpet. Only things I’m gonna need to replace are the dash pad and the lower door panels

Been trying to get some direct answers about the cam kit options and DOD delete details for my specific engine and nobody seems interested to talk to me. Texas Speed basically told me to kick rocks, BTR never even responded, Summit sales people are clueless.

Saw someone post about having a good experience with Michigan Motorsports. Emailed them last night, had a reply by 9pm, talked back and forth a little today and got everything I needed. Dan over there is great!

So here’s what I got:

-BTR stage 4 truck cam, springs, valve seals, timing cover and water pump gaskets
-DOD delete kit - head gaskets, head bolts, valley cover, half set of lifters, trays
-Circle D 278mm 3000-3200 stall converter
-Spring compressor tool
-Cam install handle
-BTR valve seal install tool

Ready to make some popcorn

Got my Wix Corvette fuel regulator/filter and electric fans ordered last night.

Today I ordered my harness and ground strap kit from PSI Conversions. Still gotta get some odds and ends from Summit too. It’s been an expensive couple days

Was out at “The Truck Farm” today if any of y’all have seen the United by Trucks channel. Was test fitting some stuff for work and then hung out with the owner most of the afternoon. Scooped a few goodies off of him while I was there.

1 set of Chevy dog dishes, 1 set of GMCs, a blank tailgate band to replace my busted one, an extra 8” rally to use for a spare (also has a 275/60/15 on it so I can see what that’ll look like first). Then stopped at Tractor Supply to grab a chest box. This regular cab life sucks with no storage lol. A tonneau will be ordered soon too

More parts! Can’t say enough about Michigan Motorsports and Circle D. They told me 2-3 weeks on the converter up front, so I was like “cool”. Super informative, answered questions quickly. Got my cam stuff within 4 business days. Then, 5-6 days later, I’ve already got my converter.

Almost got my toolbox mounted tonight. Decided to just use 2 of the bed bolts, 4 would have been far too difficult and overkill. Gotta get some longer carriage bolts tomorrow. Used a piece of 3/4 ply to spread out the load so the box doesn’t get bent down into the ribs and gives the carriage shank something good to bite into with less chance of spinning like it would in the aluminum.

Also ordered a Tonno Pro tri fold tonneau cover from amazon. Pulled it out of the box......fak

Still threw it on to see how it would look/function. It’s not a true tri-fold, the front panel doesn’t fold toward the cab, it mounts on the side rails up front instead of the front bed panel. But I actually like that because it’s more secure, seals better. I love the look though

Been following it on insta! Def dig it, homie! Trying to light a fire and get started on my Nova. My dad bought a c10 a few weeks ago, not near as nice as yours but motivation enough to make me want to get mine running and cruise with him...

I was going to tell you to get a tonneau Huck, definite necessity with an RCSB. I have a 2x6 cut to fit into the slots in the rear of my bed. Gives me a nice space for small items so I don't have to go crawling in the bed for them when I get where I'm going.

I had to dig this up from 5 years ago, but this is the handiest thing. I'm not sure if your truck would have these slots stamped in or not. Good for gettin' groceries and stuff.

I don’t have the slots but I plan to do something similar. I’ll just cut it to fit width wise and then have a couple pieces going back toward the tailgate as dividers and give it something to hold it up against the wheel tubs.
