Lol. 360mi a week, gas is $1.32 in jawga.
But makes more sense to add another vehicle. Here we go with these conversations again lol

How does it make more sense to dip into my account to buy another vehicle, then it will take a few months at least to make that back up when I could make a change to my current vehicle basically for free or very little? Btw, gas is 1.99-2.15 and I have a family to take care of as well.

The point is to save money without selling the truck. I'm not buying another vehicle cuz that's dipping into my savings I already have plus adding insurance/registration. That's the exact opposite of my purpose.

Back on topic, I'm just looking for some suggestions for shocks basically. And I think dakota removed his CVs cuz he was so low so if he hasn't had any issues doing that, I'll do the same thing and remove my front shaft as well

I think you need stub shafts if you remove the cv's. And how is that going to save you gas?

Dude don't lower it, even though it would look good, just get the truck back to stock. find you some stock 17's and run the stock tire size in an all terrain like the hankooks or the copper discovers not a mud tire and be done with it. That would be your best bet.

I know that we chatted last night about this, but I thought about it some more.

if it were my truck I would remove the bodylift, sell the tires, and buy something "stock" sized in at the most a mild AT. What is killing your MPG is the added height and those heavy as hell tires. You should be able to remove bodylift, slightly decrank keys (keep lift keys), and run a lighter tire.

I don't see the point in stripping your truck and lowering it when you can just modify what you have an get your MPG back. I mean honestly your truck would look very similar, but just be shorter (no need for amps then), be quicker, more efficient, and still look awesome.

This is really your most logical route if you plan on changing the truck any. Weight is probably your biggest enemy right now. Get some lighter tires and remove the body lift. Realistically you won't see but 1-2 difference in mpg even if you go 2/4.

I only had to remove mine when I went lower than 5.5" up front. You wouldn't have any problems at all at 2". I'd definitely keep them in for inclement weather conditions.

What does Courtney drive? If it's something that gets better mpg than your truck why not just swap and let her DD the truck?

Keeps your truck the way it is now and could save you some fuel money.

Personally I'm in the same boat as you with around 320 or so miles a week commuting but it doesn't financial make sense to get a commuter.

I drive 300-400 miles a week and spend no where near what you're saying you spend. If you want gas mileage sell the truck and buyer a commuter car.

In my 04 I used to knock down 17 all the time when I was on 265s mostly highway and I had 4.10s, I averaged like 18 running 80+ on vacation but that was no stops between fill ups

- - - - - - - - - -auto merged double post- - - - - - - - - -

Plus with light 265s and 4.10s the truck will be fun to romp on again when you do want to

I'm not getting rid of the truck. I like the truck. When I bought it with P series 285s and 17s, sitting nose high at 75-80 on the interstate it got 21. So it stands to reason even with the 20s it'll still get 20/21 or better being lower cuz aerodynamics. And the 4.10s won't really hurt, if anything they'll help my average.

Swapping with courtney isn't an option either cuz I don't trust her car driving that much. It's an old infiniti with like 210k on it, and has a few issues. Plus she's not comfortable driving my truck.

We also use my truck on the weekends for everything cuz like I said, I don't trust her car. So between work and weekend shit, I burned about 10-12 tanks of fuel last month. At $40-45 a pop that adds up quick. I'm confused as to why y'all are so against it considering I'm not gonna have to shell out anything at all once it's said and done? I'm not seeing how buying other shit is cheaper/a better idea than that....
