Time for an annual summer report cuz I'm really busy in the summer and don't get on as often as I'd like to.
Blew the shift solenoid out of the side of my trans in the Denali. Not to worry because I had just bought a new truck and was gonna fly out to get it.

Two weeks and many flights later I towed it home.

6.4 time bomb. Harley Davidson, minty underside because it was an OKC truck, but it did blow a turbo and spring a nasty leak on the way home in addition to a lil rocker tap. So I pulled the cab off, then the turbos, then decided to do the heads because I was this far anyway. Short block appears fine. Heads are getting a valve job at a great machinist. I'm waiting for those back so I can put it all back together with studs, new rocker arms, and brand new turbos. Dealer paid for the turbo replacement and a few odds and ends, so it's really just the valve and stud work I'm footing the bill for.

Yeah I blew the turbo around Harriman, TN which is like 800 miles away.

Bout time you posted this bitch.

Also how does one figure corners were cut? Other then not doing the pistons which I already expressed, he’s redoing the whole top end.. heads, rockers, studs, new turbos. My 6.4 has been fantastic and connors will when it’s done

Lol yeah Clayton knows what's up with it, he's just screwing around.

The corners were cut when I didn't ram the truck back through the dealer doors if you ask some people

Stuck the studs in and the heads in over the weekend. 275lb ft is a lot I was fucking hanging off the bar to get them torqued lol.

Not as much progress as I wanted as I broke off the lifter keeper bolt in the block and tried to get it out but ultimately ended up damaging the threads so I through in a heli coil (actually a “fix-a-thread”... finally got alcoa on my truck lol)
But we’re getting closer to that luscious sound again

Put the injectors back in, rails, new lines, put the rocker boxes and valve covers back on, did a little wiring, installed the alt, pulleys, and the belts. Put the fuel bowl back in and started on the fuel lines. Seeing a reduction in the pile of parts in the bed for the first time in a while. I was scared looking at that pile for a long time. It's starting to come back to me as I go.
I'm still nervous about the daunting task of rebuilding the top end when I barely had any mechanical experience before this, but my confidence is growing. Might be exaggerating but it feels like every bolt I torque down is a relief haha

Little late but 2 fridays ago I got the cab down. Filled it with antifreeze, and a hard pipe was weeping at a joint. It fired right up after priming.

New hard pipe, fill the coolant again, and pull it out to find oil POURING out of the front main.

Apparently that metal right wasn’t just for shipping.
New seal and I was was good to go... right?

Still has a leak but nowhere near as bad. Traced it to the ccv, where the little rubber boot was torn going onto the engine. Replaced that and it’s clean under there. Drove it up to school, it was great on the ride. I’m loving this truck, it’s quick, very clean tuning, it’s all I wanted out of my truck.

I put some switchbacks and LED heads in, and stuck some 194’s I had left over from my denali into everything that takes it lol. That’s my running board lights, cargo lights, mirror lights, and plate lights.
Now it’s just time to iron out all the little details.

I'm kinda surprised I did it but I'm really proud. I've driven it up to school twice now, it's doing pretty good but I'm getting p0128, I hope it's a dirty connection and not replacing the thermostat after I just put it all back together.
