Auto body rotisseries!

Anybody have any experience with them? Affordable options? Ones to stay away from?

Dad, friend, and I were looking at them so I could have one to work on my nova when the time comes as well as it be available to them for any future projects they may come across.

However, after looking, I believe we might try and save on money and make our own.

I'm a member on StevesNovaSite.com and after watching member romancommander build one, as well as member mbcky2, I believe it might be the most logical thing for me to do, especially with them both saying they were only in $350-400 in on them.

Romancommander originally followed the thread posted by Bonecrusher on camaros.net (Bonecrusher 67 Camaro Rotisserie Plans - Team Camaro Tech)
And then he answered some questions for mbcky2.

Bonecrusher used the $199 engine hoist from Harbor Freight, whereas Romancommander used the $99 stand, IIRC

I'll get some pics from Mbcky later and update some.

Just wanted to start this thread to keep info in one place and as stated ask for suggestions. If anyone has any other DIY plans/pics or have feedback on rotisseries you can purchase then post up! Just trying to add more info to this site and learn at the same time.

A guy on a local site made one out of wood for his 67 Mustang, but its just a shell right now.

Yeah, I've seen a few made out of wood as well. DNW that though. Lol. So far one I posted seems to be the best bet, need to see if I can get some pics of how they mounted it to their cars, etc.

More pictures off SNS of Romancommander's and Mbcky's. Save some for reference incase someone needs more photos and so I would have pictures of the mounts.

That looks awesome, looks like a great way to go about it. Clearly it's strong enough from his pictures, but my first knee jerk reaction was that I'd like to see some extra angle bracing where all the square tubing meets up. Other than that, that's badass!

The firm I work for designs these for automotive weld shops. I can't give you exact drawings but I can probably point you in the right direction. I just need a reminder in the morning lol.

That's pretty bad ass...I only wish I had the space to have one...

Haha, we have a 30x40 shop and the room for it, I just need to find money to build it, been keeping an eye on Craigslist for used hoists to maybe cut down on cost instead of cutting up brand new ones if I build one.

Agreed, just have a feeling I'd feel better with a brace or two.

Roller Hoop - Auto Rotisserie

$1400 shipped without casters, but you can literally roll the car wherever you want. If you get the center of gravity perfect you can spin the car nearly effortlessly on your own.

I saw someone using one of those on a forum but didn't see any info on it, seemed nifty and he really seemed to like it over others he said he had used.

I thought so, I knew he'd been working on that car and some others and though I had seen one. I left a comment on a pic of it to see if he'd log in and post any info or pics of it but we'll see.
