Maintenance Update: I was getting an intermittent p0455 code which is for the Evaporative system indicated a large leak, coupled with a “tighten fuel cap” warning across the dash. Started with the easy stuff, a new OEM fuel cap intermittent code still persisted.

Today I installed ACDelco part #212-2339 which is actually a replacement Evap Vent Solenoid for a NNBS truck with the remote filter box.

https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-214-2339-Original-Equipment-Canister/dp/B0055AIE4Y

There is a GM TSB with this system under 02-06-04-037H which calls for using service P/N 19152349 which is a replacement evap vent valve solenoid with a remote mount filter to prevent the filter from being clogged like the factory part since is a vent valve and filter all in one canister.

See TSB here: http://downloads.innova.com/tsb-files/80000/2380966.pdf

The problem being if you read through the bulletin, it’s hacked up garbage lol. They want you to replace all the evap lines to the vent valve and remote filter with 5/8” heater hose and hose clamps. That and the fact the service kit is 120 bucks and doesn’t include heater hose and clamps for you.

A little research I was able to find thru another forum (GMTrucks iirc) a guy had used this NNBS kit with success on his NBS. The kit includes all factory parts, evap vent valve, proper evap lines with looming and clips to attach to the brake lines all for 64 bucks on amazon. Since it is from an NNBS truck you do also need a conversion harness for the vent valve solenoid but wouldn’t ya know, ACDelco has that as well for 16 bucks on amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-19257603-Equipment-Evaporative-Emissions/dp/B0055B121U

So for nearly half the price of GMs service kit that isn’t complete, you get a complete OEM solution that is literally bolt on and isn’t all cobbled together with heater hose and hose clamps. Why they even offer that service kit instead of marketing the NNBS kit as a retrofit is beyond me.

Regardless, this kit with a new purge valve on the motor and no warnings or codes after a decent drive, hopefully it stays that way.

It’s not very exciting so I didn’t take any pictures but literally bolts on with a new bracket, plugs in with the conversion harness and then find a nice dry spot to mount your remote filter. I slid mine right between the filler tube and the bottom of the bed.

If anyone is having that issue and wants more info or pictures let me know!

Also intake update: tube seems to be performing well as IAT’s were as low as at ambient temp (41 degrees) at 70mph cruise. In town the IATs were consistently 2-3 above ambient temp which is really awesome. I know it’s winter temps so that may be a factor but if IATs remain even only 5 degrees above ambient throughout the seasons that’s a solid “cold air intake”.

Well figured I’d update this. Just like my last thread, this is not the way I wanted to close this out. Little over a year ago driving to NJ in the rain, the Lq9 and the 4.10s combined all there torques and sent me into a Jersey barrier merging onto the Highway... really it was my fault running late and angry gave it too much skinny pedal...

Totaled her out, bent the frame, crushed the front end in. Was reallllyyy pissed about this one for awhile. 77k miles NBS CCSB Vmax, it was a dream truck

Well the search began for another VMAX. Talk about impossible. So I began to explore other ideas. Was close to pulling the trigger on an SSS but my brother bought a 19 F150 so then I began to explore the “other side”. Took me almost three months but finally settled and switch to the dark side...

2014 FX4 5.0 3.55 gears, locking rear, full leather, sunroof, power back glass heated and cooled seats, back up cam, remote start...all the modern goodies.

Now I now what your thinking, and I would have never made the switch if it wasn’t for one thing...

Maybe I’ll make a thread if there’s any interest. The ford forums suck.

Man, makes me so sad to see the Vmax down

I’d definitely be interested in a thread on the Ford. If I sell the current truck or something happens to it, I won’t be going GM either. It’d be either a Ram or Ford. Does the Roush sticker=a charger on there??

would join the high perfomance f150 pg on FB. some knowledge on all boosted applications by those guys. From what i've seen, i'd have a datalog run on the current roush tune to see if everything's kosher.

Yeah I should probably do that, can’t say I’m too interested in going max effort with a tune. Seen a few guys on that group burn up some cylinders on roush trucks with other than roush tunes

Definitely wouldn’t hurt to get someone local to look at the tune. Doubt Roush has any issues but my Mach 1 had a Bama tuner on it (they’re known to be the worst of the worst) and it was so lean above 3500 he said he couldn’t believe the car never melted a piston. Did a custom dyno tune and went from 265 to 306 at the tire with a very safe tune.

Needs new wheels. How many torques does this one have?
