Khaos' RCSB Thread

This nga deathly afraid of a G80. I've have one with 4:56s and 35s with no problems and on my 6.2 with 4:11s and had no problems. Not saying it won't go eventually but it won't take a shit on you the first 5 minuets after you put it in drive

Have you met me?

Boy my truck makes less power than stock and I bet I'll blow the g80 when the 4.10s in within 5 days. I don't drive like no pawpaw

So I actually started on this today. I know, it's surprising seeing as this thread has how many posts and all I've done is a drop and long tubes :roflfp:

Final start up of the 4.8, just to pull it in the garage.

Took off the fan shroud to get better access. My radiator did not have a drain plug, so I had to remove the lower rad hose to start draining coolant.

You can see some crap that has built up under the rad over time. Pulled the rad as I'm swapping to efans and the larger rad.

Didn't take too many pics today, but essentially my goal was to get as much unplugged, unbolted, and stripped away as possible.

In the process of removing the intake, I found a friend.

I appropriately named him peanut.

Cleaned him up and then took off the intake.

Quite a bit of shit gets stuffed under there. I vacuumed it all up and closed off the intake ports. I pulled the intake so it's easier to swing the motor out and use the lift.

No more pictures as I got too focused on getting shit done. Pulled the alt (reusing) and the water pump (because I didn't feel like fucking with removing the fan), and unbolted both the ac condenser and the ps pump/bracket and moved them out of the way. I left both hooked up because I do not plan on flushing/charging those systems. I took out the header bolts and moved them out of the way.

What I have left to do is unbolt the motor mounts, disconnect the starter wires, disconnect the rest of the harness that runs along the bottom of the motor, lower the tranny mount and probably my ypipe, remove my shifter and disconnect the driveshaft. I'm planning on pulling the trans also with the motor. Reason being is I'd rather align the clutch out in the shop vs lying on my back staring up at it and getting pissed off.

One part I still have to order is a new flywheel. I'll be ordering that later this week. That's it for today. Got a lot done in the ~4 hours I was out there. I'm not trying for an Olympic record so I don't mind taking my time. Gonna finishing getting everything unbolted during the week this week and set it up to be pulled. Next weekend is busy for me, so I likely won't make any progress then. Shooting for maybe the following weekend to be getting everything back in, but that all depends. Might be the week after.

Tl;dr: I took some stuff out of the engine bay today.

Thanks John. After starting in on it, it really isn't a huge undertaking to be honest. Definitely a weekend job if you're moving along and have everything lined up.

Still debating it. My plan is to swap in a 6 speed eventually. I just don't know if that next year or 3 years lol. I'll make that decision this week and order a stock replacement clutch if I decide to get one.

I've read that t56 don't hold up well to the weight of a truck. NV4500 would get my vote, since that's what came behind a 6.0 gas in a 2500 truck

Redhoonigan on ig still has a nv3500 with a healthy ls1 in it. He puts it thru hell an has good luck I believe

Not sure I'd do a 4500 either, 1st is retarded low for any kind of performance and they still aren't huge fans of shifting fast. Maybe something like TKO600?

Doesn't bgrays white truck have a t56? Not sure he drives it enough to give good input on how well it handles the power though lol.

Rcsb is pretty much the heaviest truck you want to stick a t56 in. Ec and cc are too heavy for it, from what I've read.

Also, not like I'm putting 1k hp and tq through it to where it will be breaking.

Plenty of examples of 5 speeds holding power. Just can't shift them fast at all.

Edit: I also don't plan on putting a lot of miles on the truck. I haven't in the last few years, maybe 3-4k a year.

Just posting in here to vent. Both local tuners I've contacted apparently can't be bothered to work with me to get a base tune so I can run the truck at home and check the vitals before throwing it on their dyno....even when I offered to pay for both upfront to "lock in" my dyno tune so they didn't think I was gonna flake.

One shop said he has no way of getting me a base tune, which is BS. He uses HP tuners and I have the VCM Suite...not that hard to do. He recommended another shop that deals mostly with GM's. I contacted them via email and voicemail a few times and no one has gotten back to me.

Hopped online and contacted PCM of NC based on a lot of great reviews on pt.net. Email them what I was looking for and they got back to me within 30 minutes.

I am leaning towards them unless anyone has suggestions on someone else?

I bought HP Tuners VCM Suite std version, so I have that to work with.

he destroyed the shit out of the nv a while ago, swapped to t56 and i believe he blew that up too
