Drive line setup

Hey guys, we are taking on a new project and need your help/ guidance.
We need a drive line to put on a custom built frame and body (rat rod style) so budget is key. We need motor to rear end and everything in between, suggestions?

4.8/5.3, 10 bolt rearend out of any fullsize, or f-body etc, 4l60e

yep, a 4.8 or 5.3 will be good and reliable,

it also depends on if you want the electrical or not. a small block chevy is a easy way out. with a 700r4

Thats what keeps me away from ls, then I need a pressurized fuel tank, elec tranny, computer.... Too much damn work

yet again, you can carb the ls motors...overall the ls motor is a better buy. Makes more power typically, and cheap, and easily found.

you can carb them, but they dont have a port for mechanical fuel pump. and exhaust setup that will fit will be harder to find. etc.

sometime, ls isnt worth the PITA that it would be, for a simple hot rod
