Rear defrost not working

Hey all. So my 99 suburban has the swing out rear doors and my driver side defrost doesnt work. Had the glass replaced and it still doesnt work.i used a test light and pushed the pins in and it lit up. So not sure what else to check. The mechanic at the dealership said if the passenger side works the driver side should work too and said it was the glass so thats why i replaced it. Anyone have any ideas or have expericed this issue?
