Great shots Dan, always enjoy seeing your work. F1 shots look so damn good!

I haven't shot much at all, I always mean to grab my camera before I leave the house but I never do.

Well I didnt move far, only about 3 miles South, south west. So in theory the same birds as usual. I have the feeders and the bubbler set up now. Been seeing a good draw of birds in, couple in this yard I never got at the old house. The big thing will be winter and what comes in. Plus it usually takes a season or two before the birds start to know which yard to visit.

Im also hoping all the native flower, bush and tree planting ive been doing will help draw them in.

i did though, take my camera with me on my walk with the dogs at the park this morning. And Ive had a 70-200 F4 sitting around that Ive been playing with. Should edit those shots.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing more of them.

And when did you get that lens? I rented the same one but 2.8 for my brothers graduation and I absolutely loved it, it's now my next big purchase I'm planning.

Thank you. I missed a lot of good shots because I had been drinking for several hours leading up to those  then we tried long exposures with sparklers and let's just say there was more camera movement than sparkler movement haha.

Inb4 hipster comments.

I bought some film and loaded up an old Pentax ME Super we had at the house with the 50mm f2 lens. Gonna see what I can come up with.

Bought the film from oldschoolphotolab.com based out of NH and when I'm ready to process it, it'll go back to them. They offer digital scans too for an additional $5ish, so I'll do that along with prints.

Kinda excited to not see how they come out til the whole roll is finished and processed, it makes you think about framing and technique a hell of a lot more than digital IMO.

I have a pentax film SLR that my grandma had, its in mint condition. I want to run a roll of film through it and see what it does. I have a 45 F1.6 and a 135 F2.0 or something. Should be fun to screw with. I also got a brownie style medium format twin lens camera, would like to shoot that too. My grandpa used it to photograph hiroshima after the bomb dropped....the pictures are nuts.

I also may have bought a 7D........shit......

That's incredible. I can't even imagine what that must have been like. That camera sure has some history to it.

It's been an absolute blast shooting film, I think this has helped me bring my equipment with me more often and just shoot. Though I haven't shot much digital because I've been enjoying film that much lol.

Are you getting rid of your crop in favor of the 7D? Can't wait to see what you capture with that!

Yeah I need to scan the images in. they are pretty incredible. We foudn them after he passed. Really wish i could have gotten to talk to him about it. have a picture of a japanesse Zero his ship shot down, and he was walking around in the rubble of Hiroshima. Its crazy/no wonder he got cancer.

The 7D is a crop sensor ;) , the former king of Crop actually. i need its focusing system for birds, they are too crafty and fast haha. 19 AF points that are all cross type that I can lump into a center group will be excellent. plus another 2 frames a second, and my version of LR and PS will support the RAW files it makes haha.

My 50D is going to be given to my dad as a early B-Day present. he's been talking about upgrading from his rebel for like 3 years now and when he went to get a 50D, they sold it before he got there. So he gets body, grip and 6 batteries.

Yeah I know the 7D is crop, I should have worded that better. I was asking if it was replacing your current crop body (couldn't remember that it was a 50D) which you said it is, so question answered lol. Bird guys on the photo forums looooove the 7D, I think you'll have some good luck with that body. Is your dad a bird guy too?

Scan those if you can, that would sure be something worth staring at for a while, just trying to imagine the magnitude of what those pictures are.

No, my Dad just likes to have good cameras. The 50D is still in CRAZY good shape, and has fewer then 10K on it, i feel pretty bad selling it off for some reason, so off to pop's it goes.

Working on scanning the photos now...been meaning to do it for a while now
