Found a tiny bit of coolant pooled under the coolant crossover fittings on each head. Decided to tackle what I thought would be a quick fix today...

Took the crossover off, tightened down the braided line in the fittings and added thread tape and thread locker for good measure. Went to bolt the one side back down and the bolt stripped out the head :ayfkm:

So out comes the tap set. Try and tap it, that side already had a helicoil in it, so that got taken out. Ended up having to drill the fitting and the hole in the head bigger, then tap it for the new bolt. Got that side all done and cleaned up. Bolt it in, nice and snug with no issues. Great. Move over to the other side to bolt it down, same fuuuucking thing happens there. :rage:

So back to the drill press with the fitting, drilled the head, tapped it, and finally got it all back on and sealed up. Took a quick drive and didn't see any leaks, only time will tell though.

Fkn aluminum... I tell ya.

Racetrok problems.

I don't trust myself enough to do all that. I rung off two bolts for the valve covers on the last Toyota I had. Decided that was the end of my engine builder career lol.

It's nerve racking doing that, no matter how experienced. I hated having to drill and tap shit on the race car engines and gear boxes. Especially when that shit is hot at the track and you have to do it before the next session :nono:

Yeah I had to do it. Couldn't let it go or pay someone. I have all the tools so might as well use them lol

Yeah I half ass measured and made sure I wasn't gonna drill through into the water jacket lol. Tapping was total ass since the fuel rails were in the way. Took like 20 minutes per side doing 1/8th turns :nono:

In other news. Planning out how I'm gonna do the power swap, gonna redo my cluster lights, do door and pillar speakers, and probably sound deaden at the same time.

Also this things needs trac bars baaad. Probably gonna order assassin bars from Smith Racecraft so I can do burnouts without the ass end hopping all over the place.

Then prepare for the inevitable death of the G80. Kinda wanna just pick up a spare rear end and build it, then swap it in when the time comes.
