I sold my motorcycle so I could do something fun with 4 wheels. I contemplated everything from getting a commuter and making my truck go fast to getting a G8 or GTO. But I ended up buying a muscle car instead.

It hasnt been delivered to my house yet. But as it is, it has a 396 punched .060 with KB pistons and some other go fast parts.

ASAP plans are to pull the shitty exhaust off and dump it over the rear axle like it should be. I dont have a great shot of the interior but the tach is placed center of dash so I would like to move that to a more logical location. YOu can see in the engine pic that the wiring is less than desirable so I would like to fix that.

Winter plans are to fab up a newer center console and replace headliner with a custom made job. Also want to install Dakota Digital dash kit - 1969 Chevy Chevelle/El Camino VHX Instruments

Yes - I want to go pro tour. Short term plans are to put Hotchkis lowering springs on it just to get more low and fill in the gaps. I would, eventually, like to do the entire suspension with the ART stage 3 package.

The 17s are going to stay for probably the next 2 years then I'll up to 20s in back and try to stuff 19s in the front. Most guys I have seen do 20s and 18s - there must be a reason for that.

The more I look at the pics, the more the engine compartment is bugging the shit out of me. I also wish someone made a nice heat extractor hood with a cowl - cant find one.

I picked the car up for $13,000. Yesterday morning I had no thoughts about buying a car, yesterday afternoon I was a '69 Chevelle Owner.

Personally, I think it has just the right crappy to not crappy ratio. It doesnt need anything, but I want to do alot of stuff. For now, Im going to get it and drive it.

Very cool!! I'm looking to get a 70 Chevelle at some point. I just love all things Chevelle up through '72. After that, I feel like they kinda lost their way :D

I bounced alot on the year. I knew I didnt want to move up to the single head light era. So thats 70 or earlier. I wouldve really liked a '67 but everyone also wants a '67 so the price of those is up up.

'69 had me at the side shot.

Anhyone know what a fucking hybridized transmission is?

What you have is a Borg Warner T-10.

Doug Nash modified them in many ways back in the day, stronger gears, different ratios, stronger shafts, overdrives, etc.

What it sounds like you have is a O/D modified trans, the "hybridized" is likely a made up term, either it's an original Nash trans, or someone modified a regular T-10 with the O/D. Neat transmission, but parts are difficult to come across.

As soon as the car hits my driveway Im going to crawl under it and take a look at the housing to see if I have some numbers I can use a reference.

As soon as I explode that trans though, I wont be rebuilding it. I'll probably move to a ZF6 or 6060.
