I have a 2012 Silverado Crew Cab 4x4 with the 4.8L and I'm wondering what's the best gears to get for towing, I live in North Dakota now so it's very hilly out here and my truck has a major struggle going up them... very annoying because I basically have to floor it to make it up without dropping 10mph.. so I'm trying to decide between 3.73 & 4.10, I know 4.10 will be high rpm on the highway but what's will make it easier on the motor and tranny for hauling? Thanks

I'm only hauling a 2 seater polaris RZR on a flat trailer .. not a lot of weight at all only weighs roughly 1,300 lbs by itself . But I plan on driving back down to Texas next year with it loaded down and don't want to struggle the whole way because that's a nice 23 hour drive

i know those 4.8's like to rev. im surprised. I just went down 9 hours to WV to ride, i had my 03 1500 with 33's and 3.73 gears, and a snow mobile trailer with 2 quads, tools, and around 50 gallons of gas and it wasnt bad.

With a 4.8, 4.10s minimum. You won't lose much gas mileage and it'll make a world of difference.

Iv driven to Texas and back about 5 times now and it does not like the hills, I have 33x12.50r20 tires, iv always wanted to change the gears but since I just got this new toy it really makes me want to change them, it's horrible with hauling.

Have 4.8 5 speed with factory 3.73s. On the highway with 285/70/17 tires its revs at 2100-2200 rpm at 75mph. I wouldn't upgrade to 3.73s make it worth while and do 4.10s will bump the Revs up a little but not horrible

I have the 4 speed but I'm going with 4.10's anyways , been hearing people going with the 3.73 and wishing they went to 4.10 instead
