Agreed. Always awesome to see you saving parts from the yard. This is definitely a perfect OEM+ project if I've ever seen one.
I like my OEM parts, and OEM looking stuff. I can't wait to tear into my 88 this winter... So many parts I've collected.
I think so. It'll bolt right up to the dually, but the 88 which it might be better suited for stylistically has springs in the way now, and I'm not sure I want to modify this guard.
Hmmmmmm? Like GMT400 pages? GMT400.com is the only specific one i know of, other than the numerous facebook groups.
I loved gmt400 when I was in that scene. All kinds of info. Just gotta get past the yee-yees.

It’s probably been 3 years for me. The bag builds were always fun to go through. And like when I lowered mine, I found on there that Jeep Cherokee shocks would fit perfectly. An ass of info on there.

Another junkyard find in a 96 suburban... Oh how I love 90's GM for things like this.
And, while it isn't everybody's cup of tea, I did install the Z71 guard on my truck. I like it but I also don't. It's rugged looking, but it's really just for looks as it's aluminum. It also needs a new coat of paint ETC, which if I keep it on the truck will happen in the spring. Fortunately it isn't the end of the world to take back off if I change my mind.

Here we have a 97 GMC K1500 suburban. Yes, 8 lug. Yes, 1500. "1500". It's a 6.5L. For whatever reason they used the 2500 frames on them. It has 277k on it and randomly shuts off when it warms up... no way I know what that could be!

jesus another burban. my buddy used to have a 1500 with the 6.5 in it.
Question, since i know you knwo a bit about the 6.5. mine if it sits for a while meaning a few hours, breaks up when getting on it, like it gets air in the system, if i keep it going, it clears out and then is fine the rest of the time. not every time, but i would say half the time.
Ideas?

Hummmmmm not sure but that does sound like an air leak. Have you checked to make sure the lift pump is working and not loosing it's prime while it sits?
i know its working, because sometimes, the truck will just stall when idling due to this "air leak" and i can put it in gear, turn the key to run the lift pump, get it primed and it runs fine.
Not been much going on with this thing for awhile now.
I did remove the Z71 Guard.
Then spent 8 hours or so fully detailing it inside and a out....
And parked it in my GMT400 playground. The 88 is looking a bit sad... some updates are in it's thread though, it shouldn't be sad too much longer!
